A Long Goodbye - Listenin’ to tunes and fallin’ to sleep. The day was long and the week was longer and I wanna close my eyes to dream. The sun is down and I heard the dusk applaud my day, so it’s time for me to find my things and be on my way. / Thank you for the time and the conversation. You brought my day all the way to a pleasant close. The stars are bright and the sun’s on the other side hidin’, so I’ll tell ya thanks and gather my things, and be on my way. / The cigarettes have burned down to the finger tips. The ashtray’s full, tobacco lays sprawled all across the utility table. I don’t want to call it early, but it seems it’s time to go, so thanks again for everythin'. It’s time I head on. / The record is turnin’ but nothin’ is playin’. And no one here seems int’rested to put the needle back in its place. Vinyl spinnin’ like a lighthouse sittin’ out on a dark island. I’ll shut this down and head on out and be on my way. / When can we do this again? There’s nothin’ more I’d rather do than have a good time with you again. We don’t need a time, no need for a schedule, I’ll just keep my eyes peeled. And until we do, here’s to you.
